Chestnut Avenue garden is located next to Chestnut Avenue Car Park and is a dry garden containing plants for pollinators and colour and interest all year around. We meet every 1st Sunday of the month to garden here and at nearby Des Ball's bulb bank.

Northfields Community Garden is home to our fruit and veg garden, located in Northfields, just off Winston Crescent and Furzenhall Road. We manage the beds at the back of Northfields Community Centre and a publicly accessible garden where anyone can come water, weed and harvest many fruit, veg and herb varieties! There are also seating areas for passers-by to enjoy the garden. We try to make the garden as organic and as nature-friendly as possible, the biodiversity of plants attracts much wildlife! We garden here every 2nd Saturday of the month. New for 2026! Following the creation of our 2 new planters, our 'mini-orchard' and our produce box, we have some exciting additions coming to the garden including 3 new fruit areas and an expansion to our orchard!
Des Ball's Bulb Bank
Des Ball's Bulb Bank
The bulb bank is named in memory of the late Des Ball who lived nearby and planted the bank with bulbs each year to create beautiful displays in Spring and Summer. We are continuing his legacy, planting bulbs and creating a native wildflower meadow, making a home for wildlife and also a beautiful place for people to walk through. We meet every 1st Sunday of the month to garden here and at Chestnut Avenue.

In early 2025, we were awarded a grant to help improve Biggleswade train station with a community mural. We were also awarded Station Partner status to help out with the planters on the platform and have now transformed the planters, planting perennial plants for pollinators - please give them a water when passing by! We are canvassing the community for ideas for the community mural- the themes are Railway 200, celebrating 200 years of the railway and Biggleswade Community Gardens and we want to involve the community as much as possible - we have hosted a market stall and a community mural workshop led by Rose Hill from Co-Creative Connections to gather ideas which will be included in the design. Mural anticipated Spring 2026 - watch this space!
